Never give up, Never Surrender is ...

...a popular line from a 1999 spoof Sci-Fi film called 'Galaxy Quest' - and yet never has a truer phrase been spoken that relates to being a writer & I want to quickly illustrate this with two examples - both of which occurred this week.

On Thursday I had the real pleasure of sitting with a young lady who is setting up her own business in social media. I had almost given up spending money on trying out young people to help me establish an on-line presence. So often I advertised, interviewed, was full of expectation only to be disappointed by the lack of drive and determination to see even the smallest job through. Then, not giving up and certainly not surrendering, I met my new expert and she is amazing. A graduate from Exeter University in Social Media Science (its now a science ?!). I now look forward to reading my posts on my Instagram account which I have never seen before. Take a look at my new Instagram account if you can and look at the most recent posts #philip_kaybujak_ and maybe let me know what you think.

The second example is finally getting noticed by a very important journal that deals with one of my areas of interest.

After years of trying to be 'seen' I was so pleased to have an extract from my new book included in Edition No. 30 of Iron Cross magazine - this is a highly regarded journal that looks at war from the German perspective and adds a huge amount of detail and research to help provide a balanced understanding of our history.

I even managed to add two of my favourite actors to the article - the wonderful Bill Nighy and the insperational Tom Cruise.

So the moral of the story is never give up because that means surrender. Believe in what you are are doing and just keep trying to succeed - there are no guarantees but if you dont keep trying you will certainly not get over the line.
