2023 Memories of researching for Gallia Narbonensis in the South of France

2024 It's really good to know my books help you sleep...

This is the landing grid for part of Omaha beach on D Day June 6th 1944. My book on the Empire Javelin deals with just one part of Omaha Beach - codenamed Doggreenbeach.

2022 What about this for a cake to celebrate the publication of Cicero!

When I was researching The Life of Cicero, I became fascinated by the patterns of social behaviour and communication between the great Roman families. They were, in their own way, just as busy on their versions of Tik Tok and SnapChat - gossip, letters, parties, meeting daily in the street and word spread fast !

Very pleased to support the East Grinstead Book Shop who always stock my books.

Researching and locating the graves of the heroic men of the 116th Infantry took me to the American cemetery in Normandy.

There is nothing like the feeling of joy when a 'new baby is born' and its a similar feeling with a new book.

Great to see Empire Javelin in the bookshops after three years' work.

Trying to capture the bravery of men such as Taylor Fellers is a truly humbling experience.

The 2008 book launch of Undefeated in Norwich flanked by two of my former Royal Anglian commanding officers Lt Colonel David James OBE and Colonel Miles Green. Thankfully, none of us are responsible for the design of the 6th Battalion tie.....

The 1890-1918 medal group of Lt Col John Sherwood Kelly VC, MC, CMG used in my 2018 book The Bravest Man in The British Army.

With my good friend, wonderful bookshop owner and impresario John Pye in East Grinstead
